Nen Releases Dreamy Melancholy EP “Requiem”

Nen’s voice blissfully haunts you and caresses you all at once.

Introducing, indie-pop artist Nen, who’s newest release “Requiem” is one of those EPs that cuts from the same rich, raw cloth as Lorde in her Melodrama era, but with the smoky ache of a broken glamour that Lana Del Rey and Sharon Van Etten share on a night of confessing heartache.

There’s something deliciously reckless about the way Nen builds a song. Production here doesn’t sit still, a restless friend to the melancholy vocals. It fidgets, sputters, jolts, and mangles like it’s got secrets to tell and trauma to process. One second we’re floating in synth fog, the next we’re listening to wavering balladic piano chords. And fittingly, it's called “Requiem. A farewell, a fever dream, a soft funeral for something that once pulsed wild in your chest. She mourns in breathy vocals, and woefully accepts broken love with ghost no longer there.

Through the indie rock vibes and the eerie pop undertones of both tracks in the project, “Requiem” and “Lacuna” , Nen’s voice stitches romance into her croons and whispers into the air. It feels like a late-night drive with the windows down, and an inner monologue of bittersweetness on your mind. She doesn’t so much deliver lyrics as confess them: whimsical one moment, wistful the next, hopelessly in love with love, and just self-aware enough to grin at her own spirals.

The result? A sound that isn’t tidy—but it’s truer for it. Nen doesn’t give us polish; she gives us presence. The kind of song that you’d. put on when you’re half asleep, but full of feeling unable to rest.
