Here is a divergence from our usual programming of music and songwriting; however, not too far off. Today, I have the pleasure of sharing an interview I had with an old friend whom I’ve known for a while now, more specifically since our middle school & high school days. Evan “Van Thomas” Cummings is someone I always knew to have a beautiful grasp of the English language. I won’t deny that it did surprise me though when he would read aloud some of his assignments to the class, and I would hear such raw and honest emotion, intertwined in such well-constructed, eloquent structures of poetry, but he did it every time. He had an undeniable knack for it.

We’ve been in a constant state of flux for more than half a year now. The world changed so much in such a short period of time, no one was prepared. It’s those moments that make us so thankful for music to get us through the ever evolving surroundings—it’s the thing that keeps us grounded. Ross Newhouse is an emerging artist whom reached out to me and I was pleasantly surprised to hear his music, and he was pleasantly surprised to find out I had a music blog.

You should probably be allowed to hate me for saying the over-used word “vibe”, but in this case, please spare me because this track really is one. Today, I get to feature emerging artist Julius Black, who is a 19-year old singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. He was born in Australia, raised in Shanghai, and comes from a mixed background of Chinese-Irish. As a result of the different continents he lived in, he searched for musical influences everywhere he could, thus developing this 'alternative soul pop' sound that he creates today.
